| I've always enjoyed drawing. The moment I entered high school I enrolled for the creative arts classes and continued doing so right through to the HSC. Undoubtedly I owe the number of art teachers that assisted my drawing development during that time some credit for my achievements. I completed high school with my HSC major featured in Australia's 'Art Express'. This had been such a great artistic success for me and was the first time I had ever considered a creative career. From high school I went on to study Graphic Design & New Media at the University of Wollongong. Here I combined my knowledge of software with my artistic ability to graduate with a Degree of Creative Arts. Through my studies I came across many artists who utilised their skills as emotional outlets; be it drawing, painting, design, music or writing. However, I always felt I connected to my drawings alternatively - as a way of bringing my imagination to life. No doubt my emotions influence whether I'd draw a beauty or a beast but whatever the situation, it would be the story-telling in my head that ultimately decided what was translated onto the page. |
My graphic design is simple and elegant. It has grown over a number of years in the industry and mostly through website design. I hope to expand my print design portfolio however as I find the process much more rewarding. Receiving a fresh batch of cards or brochures in the mail is almost as good as buying a box of chocolates. My ultimate goal would be to work as a story-boarder or character designer, be it for television or games, where my creative flare can be released. I hope my alternate illustrative styles will aid me in achieving this. Until then, I will continue to develop my design while my maidens and monsters will grow in size and number. Thank you to my clients that have continued to support me over the past four years and thank you to my family and friends that never let me forget my art, even at my lowest of times. Sincerely, Meredith Adams. |
